Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I choose a mentor? First, complete your profile to inform others in the program about what you're looking to gain out of the relationship. Then browse through the list of mentors and send a mentoring request to those you would like to connect with.
- How long will the mentors be available? Mentors and mentees should commit to six months in order to ensure that the mentee is able to fully benefit from the relationship.
- How do I know what to do and when? There are emails and resources provided to mentors and mentees to facilitate the mentoring process.
Mentee Commitment Agreement
- Participate in one 60-minute orientation webinar and one 60-minute final/wrap up webinar.
- Clarify and communicate your goals to your mentor.
- Conduct a minimum of one meeting per month (virtual/telephone/in-person) with your mentor.
- Communicate in advance if a mentoring session needs to be canceled.
- Proactively communicate directly with your mentor if the relationship is not addressing your needs.
- Commit to your development by staying accessible and engaged during the length of the program.
- Participate in the Community discussions, and online chats.
- Be open and honest about your goals, expectations, challenges, and concerns.
- Respect your mentor’s time and resources.
- Seek advice, feedback, and direction from your mentor.
- Keep your mentor informed of your progress.
- Be open to constructive feedback.
- Give feedback to your mentor on what is working or not working in the mentoring relationship
